Late this afternoon just before dinner I spied this Canadian across the slough, at first glance I thought it was a new pipe sticking out of the rocks. There are several more on the pasture behind him and two more in the slough on this side of him.
This may be the shortest Blog I've written yet.
The Blue Herons are around the slough most of the time. It's odd when at least one is not within view, they have a loud AWK letting it loose while flying or right before taking off.
There are only 2,000 people on the Island, we all know pretty much everyone. I can't figure out how some people are able to go out in public after their remarks. It's always the same people tossing out the same insults to the same insultees, is this nuts or what? Oh Lord please have this self Quarantine end within the next 6 months to one year.
Their landings should be of little surprise after seeing how the nests are constructed. Some balance precariously on unstable precipices. Some people are tempted to help them by "shoring" up the works. However the best help we can give is to simply leave them alone to their own devices.
During their silent search for a meal they glide effortlessly through the skies.
The waves don't bother them, if the wind does it's not shown however they show up in greater numbers when the wind is down. They are a joy to watch with or without the wind they are always actively on the search for another meal.
As I recall Foghorn Leghorn said it, and I use it all of the time. It must have been written by someone who was watching Doves it goes such; "Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing." If you dought it just watch a Ring Necked Dove land.
While taking pictures this morning an Osprey flew overhead, much too high for me to take a picture of. Immediately after a Red Tailed Hawk flew over letting loose with it's shrill call, most likely looking for his mate. I am confident it was a male judging by it's size, the males are considerably smaller than the females.
A photograph hides the wind, and although taken with the Sun unobstructed making the image a bit bright it brings out the colors. I may have missed the flower without it shining bright.
