The Pumpkins are Coming out of the Woodwork.
Everyone has Pumpkins growing, apparently they are volunteers bandied about on the tails of Rabbits, Skunks, and Raccoons.

Life is on a Slower Pace after Labor Day.
I refer to these as “Bay-Cones” for lack of knowing the real name of these seed pods. They grow on the Bay Trees, when the first of them turn brown and begin to drop the leaves won’t be far behind.

While in my garden the lack of insects is noticable, I haven’t seen a Preying Mantis in years, Lady Bugs are non-existant. Many people have their homes sprayed for insects on a monthly basis, either not knowing or caring that the wind carries the insecticide very long distances

The Rhythm of the Seasons Continues, This is the Way Things are.
That is the way of the rivers for millions of years before the Ancestral Peoples made their way South to the fertile valley East of what is now the San Francisco Bay. They made their homes here, they would return to the river every late Spring after the water receded. When the Rains would return in the Autumn the people would migrate to the higher foothills to the West.

Great George Almighty that Is a Pumpkin!
The Zucchini was near death, it never did take off this spring I’m not sure why. I thought I had done something wrong, I spoke with a neighbor lady that pulled her’s out as well for the same reason. We have not been able to grow the Summer Squash for two years,

My Zucchini Died. Not a Big Deal, I Planted Cantaloupe like this.
The reason may be that I purchased an old envelope of them. I have had problems with seeds from big box stores before this, I try to avoid buying plants or seeds from them.

The Growing Environment has Changed, or is it Me?
Conditions are changing, the jet stream coming off the Pacific has changed, the high-pressure area is not dominating the Golden Gate so far this summer. Perhaps it may rain all summer long, that would be a blessing of many different colors.

Peculiar Garden this Year.
That is no dought where all of the crazy plants are coming from, I’ve got to think of something or I will end up with this mish-mash again next year. That’s how we learn, it’s a curiously crazy world, isn’t it?
