The Smoke Has Cleared; It’s Wake-up on the Slough.
Early morning brought a nice change, the sky was clear; visibility was over 16 miles. The heavy dew and fog helped bring the fires under control. We can’t celebrate yet as the fire season has just begun.

The Smoke is Clearing now It’s Weeding Watering Waiting.
The smoke is beginning to clear, I am able to venture into the great outdoors once again to work in the garden, and take photos.

Raising Earthworms Makes Sense For Gardeners.
A few precautions should not deter anyone’s interest in the ecologically positive activity, my opinion is everyone should have at least one Colony. With a minimum of protection Vermiculture is safe, each of us develops during the learning curve the level we need to remain safe. Starting small assisted with research a size-able Colony can be realized within the first year.

Composting Seaweed
I wrote this post April 2020, after a revision it has been posted again. Due to the wild fire smoke I cannot go out of the house until it clears up.

I Planted a Peach Pit; I Grew a Peach Tree.
In it’s fourth year the new Peach Tree had over 100 Peaches hanging from the limbs. Thinning will be performed in earnest next year to improve the size of the fruit.

Cardboard Boxes; I Can’t Get Enough of Them.
At one time not too long ago I would curse boxes, it seemed I was forever busting them apart to toss into the trash. I began to look for uses when I discovered Earthworm farming where it may be use for feeding them as well as creating their habitat.

Coopers Hawk, by any other name is a Chicken Hawk.
There is no lack of activity around the Slough, every day brings something new. One morning it was this Chicken Hawk, he stayed around for a few days then returned to where he came from.

In Search of Amphibians.
The water in the slough is 50° F. 4 feet below the surface which is much warmer. The Turtles spend a lot of time in the sun.

Some Days Just Makes an Old Guy Wonder.
There are only 2,000 people on the Island, we all know pretty much everyone. I can’t figure out how some people are able to go out in public after their remarks. It’s always the same people tossing out the same insults to the same insultees, is this nuts or what? Oh Lord please have this self Quarantine end within the next 6 months to one year.

This is a fun video, however not so much fun for Mom, and I have a feeling it’s fun for Dad right now but when he gets back to the nest big trouble is waiting.
