Besides eating all of the organic waste from the kitchen the worm farms eats cardboard, paper, burlap, and newsprint. They are a real ecological boon which makes me feel like I'm doing my part to keep waste from the collection yard; it's a small part but effective.
I searched my bird books and the internet to identify this bird, I am not good at it in the least. I spent about an hour looking then decided to post the picture in a bird group I subscribe to.
During this time of year it's easy to take 1,000 plus images in one sitting. That takes a couple of hours, editing takes a couple of days at times I have upwards of 2,000 on the waiting list.
The fires move fast some have been clocked at 60mph making short work of an Island 15 miles long. The Paradise fire was moving so fast (60mph+) people were not able to outrun it, this has to be stopped.
It's been a few windless good days a relief to be out doors without the breeze constantly buffeting the face. Alas it lasted overnight then kicked back up the following morning. I stopped at a photo booth, I knew the guy behind it, and on the wall he had a beautiful photo of an Egret standing at attention. I said to him (jokingly, I swear it's the truth) hey you have one of my pictures; he did not appreciate that comment.
I'm wondering why all of the critters appear larger to me this year, but then again when a person gets to my age a number of things kind of morph. Everyone is beautiful, the young grandkids are way too smart and I'm beginning to do what Mrs. Lebec tells me to. Ahh will wonders ever cease?
