Out Before Daybreak; Ambush The Hummingbirds!
I had it all planned, rise early, grab coffee, camera and Skunkpuppy then take hundreds of photos of Hummingbirds. Unfortunately the birds did not get the memo.

A Different Side.
I’m in the house until the smoke clears, again, on the few occasions I venture out a 3-M respirator is my choice of smoke protection. The paper masks are fine for the C-19 but smoke is a different concern, the PM-10 is a killer. Smoke allergies are more common than we realize and cause serious illness or on occasion death;

The Smoke is Clearing now It’s Weeding Watering Waiting.
The smoke is beginning to clear, I am able to venture into the great outdoors once again to work in the garden, and take photos.

Raising Earthworms Makes Sense For Gardeners.
A few precautions should not deter anyone’s interest in the ecologically positive activity, my opinion is everyone should have at least one Colony. With a minimum of protection Vermiculture is safe, each of us develops during the learning curve the level we need to remain safe. Starting small assisted with research a size-able Colony can be realized within the first year.

Composting Seaweed

I Planted a Peach Pit; I Grew a Peach Tree.
In it’s fourth year the new Peach Tree had over 100 Peaches hanging from the limbs. Thinning will be performed in earnest next year to improve the size of the fruit.

Cardboard Boxes; I Can’t Get Enough of Them.
At one time not too long ago I would curse boxes, it seemed I was forever busting them apart to toss into the trash. I began to look for uses when I discovered Earthworm farming where it may be use for feeding them as well as creating their habitat.

Vermiculture; Raising Earthworms.
Raising Earthworms may be a good first step in acheiving zero waste. They eat all organic material as well as paper products. The castings make excellent fertilizer in solid or liquid form.

The Heat is Hard on the Garden.
The wildfires are burning enhanced by the high ambient temperatures. The heat dries the garden beds quickly to the detriment of some plants, my Crenshaw melons are now a statistic.
