Gulls
The weather guessers are predicting the wind will shift again from the Ocean. It will then blow the nasty air Eastward where people in the mid North are smelling wood smoke in the rain. All smoke settles on the ground sooner or later, rain helps it along hence the smell. The firefighters along with the emergency response teams are doing an amazing job, they just keep on keeping on.

Ground Squirrels; He has to Go.
No mammals like hot peppers, birds on the other hand don’t mind them. In fact I have heard (through the coconut telegraph) Parrots really like them. I plan on making a hot sauce and spreading it liberally on the feeders.

Quarantined Again With My Photos, I’m Worried.
By using that technique I would take shotgun photographs of Red Wing Blackbird flocks with no success. It’s one of my goals capturing a detailed image of one, I have taken several that were close. However not in the “very close” range, they were all filled with photographic issues.

Young Squirrels and Geese.
A few years back I found a. young fledging Barn Owl that had hit a utility pole in a similar velocity wind. At any rate it appears they will not be migrating back to their summer grounds which I assume is in or near Canada.

Merely Curious, that’s All.
Why is the Crow chasing this Hawk? What did he do to deserve this? If we rely on hearing it from the critters we most likely have a very long wait.

Are Humans Smart Enough To Test a Crows I.Q.?
For that reason it is my belief even if the critters were able to speak our language fluently we would not be able to understand them. It would be impossible for us to identify with their perspective because the way they evolved has no bearing on how we did.

Slow Start
A few Canadians remain around here which makes me wonder if the wildfires and the heat wave up North have something to do with it. The largest wildfire in California is on the Eastern slope of the Sierra’s near the Nevada border. One thousands acres are on fire as I write this, unfortunately for those Eastward the smoke is being shared with the rest of the country. It’s the middle of July and we’re already up to our eyebrows in Alligators; it won’t get better any time soon.

Feathers Worth Their Weight In Gold.
Enough of the doom and gloom I prefer to stay on the positive end of the stick. It’s a bit distressing watching a documentary until the last 5 minutes when it is ended with the narrator telling us all how the end of the world will come about. It’s a lot like being told we’re having lutefisk for dinner, now that’s funny.

Now that the high temperatures have begun when combined with the Diablo Wind blowing in from the N.W. terra firma will dry rapidly. We’ve already burned more acreage this year than last, I didn’t realize that until I saw it in the morning paper.
