They typically they don't fly in the fog, so it's left for Skunk-puppy, me and my coffee to unravel it to make sense of it all. The foggy days aren't lost however when worse comes to bad sitting there drinking coffee isn't bad either.
In a short while the critters will begin the mating season the best show in the world to watch. The Sea Gulls are already starting to develop their pecking order by fighting over the pylon.
Taking 300 keeper photographs translates into a considerable amount of time, luckily they take 5 minutes each. But after editing them the time comes to eliminate some, that may take 10 minutes per frame but it's a good problem to have.
Tomorrows a new day that looks like it will be clear. Another bit of rain is predicted arriving this Friday in a minimal amount. The important part is how much snow will fall on the Sierra Nevadas, the snow pack is what makes the difference in our water supply next Summer. We won't be out of this rough by a long shot,
Some fly close to the water surface at the same speed they fly far overhead, they only have two speeds stopped and fast. When they fly near the surface it's usually because they are executing a short flight of a few hundred yards. Generally when they are high overhead they are heading far down the river disappearing around one of the nearby bends. They remind me of Taxi Cabs on a busy downtown street continuously in motion without a concern in the world.
It's best to feed them under a nearby tree as it guards them from being attacked from overhead as well as being shielded from the side the tree is on. Watching one direction improves their chance of survival if a predator makes an attempt.
I have no desire to publish anything for sale, I've done that and I don't like it one bit; I can no longer handle stress. But if I were to be asked or create a Calendar I would chose a theme a bit more relevant to the Culture of the Island.
panoramic of the range hopefully 16 inches x 32 inches, my vision of it is fading.
Tomorrow we will wake up to steady rain, I will be inside most of the day. My photo session in the morning will be under the patio cover sheltered from the weather. Whether or not the critters will be out is anyones guess but one thing is for sure the air will be clean, a slight breeze will be up and the coffee will be hot.
t's been a good weekend for photography as the critters are returning to the slough, the weather is nice (until tomorrow) and the sky is partly cloudy. Hopefully we will receive a good amount of rain, the wind will be below 25 mph and the mudslides will not develop.
